England Beat Pakistan By 12 Runs In High Scoring Game

England beat Pakistan by 12 runs in a high scoring second one day international at Southampton.

England lead the five match series 1-0 after first ODI washed out.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and sent England into bat.

Jos Buttler scored unbeaten century as batting first England scored 373 runs for the loss of three wickets in allotted 50 overs.

Openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow provide brilliant start to England.

Both added 115 runs for the first wicket.

Bairstow completed his half century before Shaheen Shah Afridi got his wicket.

Jonny Bairstow hit six boundaries in his 51 off 45-ball.

Roy and Joe Root then added 62 runs stand for the second wicket.

Jason Roy scored 87 off 98 deliveries, smashing six boundaries and three sixes.

Root made 40 with the help of three fours.

After losing three wickets on 211, Jos Buttler and skipper Eoin Morgan played superb knocks.

Both added unbeaten stand of 162 runs for the fourth wicket in the last 15 overs.

Buttler scored century on just 50 balls. He remained top scorer with unbeaten 110 off 55 deliveries.

Buttler smashed nine sixes and six boundaries.

Morgan scored 71 not out, hitting six fours and one six.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah, Hasan Ali and Yasir Shah took one wicket each.

In reply chasing a huge target of 374, Pakistan managed to score 361 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs.

Openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq provide solid start to Pakistan.

Fakhar and Imam added 92 runs stand for the first wicket in 15 overs.

Imam ul Haq was the first man to go after making 35 off 44 deliveries. He smashed three boundaries.

Babar Azam then joined Fakhar Zaman on the crease and increase the run rate.

Fakhar Zaman hammered English bowlers and completed his century. Babar Azam also scored fifty.

Both shared 135 runs stand for the second wicket to put Pakistan into commanding position.

Fakhar remained top scorer with 138 off 106 balls. He smashed 12 boundaries and four sixes.

Babar made run a ball 51.

Pakistan were in good position to win at 227 for one but they lost three quick wickets.

Asif Ali and skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed then stabilized the innings.

Asif hit quick-fire 51 off 36 deliveries, smashing four sixes and two boundaries.

Sarfaraz Ahmed made unbeaten 41 off 32 deliveries.

Pakistan stayed in the hunt before a target of 19 off the last over proved just beyond them as they finished on 361 for seven.

For England, David Willey and Liam Plunkett took two wickets each.

Jos Buttler was declared man of the match.

The third match of the series will be played on Tuesday in Bristol.
