Indian Wells Masters
Austria's Dominic Thiem beat Croatia's Ivo Karlovic in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells ATP Tournament where he will face the winner of Gael Monfils and Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Thiem, the number seven seed, won the match against 40-year-old Karlovic 6-4, 6-3.
The first set went with serve before Thiem broke Karlovic's serve at 4-5 to take the set. The Austrian then continued to dominate into the second set and looked comfortable on his serve, never facing a break point during the match.
Roger Federer cruised past Briton Kyle Edmund with a straight sets 6-1, 6-4 win in just over an hour of play.
And Naomi Osaka followed Simona Halep through the exit door at the BNP Paribas Open as the top two players in the world were sent packing in the fourth round at Indian Wells.
World number one Osaka never found her rhythm against Belinda Bencic as the Swiss used her precise ground strokes and pinpoint serving to topple the defending champion 6-3 6-1 in just over an hour.
The 22-year-old Bencic hit a forehand volley on match point to seal the win and send her into the quarter-finals.
