Stuttgart Open: Second Seed Shelton Knocked Out

Second seed Ben Shelton was knocked out of the Stuttgart Open.

The American world number 14 was beaten at the ATP 250 tournament in Germany by Australian James Duckworth, who is ranked 101 in the world.

Duckworth will face former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini in the quarter-finals after the Italian defeated Canadian Wildcard Denis Shapovalov 6-4 6-4.

Meanwhile, seventh seed Jan-Lennard Struff set up a quarter-final against American Brandon Nakashima after both dispatched their French opponents. Struff beat Arthur Rinderknech 6-4 7-6, while Nakashima defeated Richard Gasquet 6-3 6-4.
