Dubai Open: Murray Fights Back To Beat Shapovalov

Andy Murray fought back from a set down to overcome Canada's Denis Shapovalov in the first round of the Dubai Open.

The three-time major winner and former world number one had lost five of his last six matches to start 2024 before his victory at the ATP 500 event.

The result sees Murray join the illustrious company of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andre Agassi as just the fifth player to win 500 matches on hard courts in the open era.

Murray, who lifted the Dubai Title in 2017, will face one of two Frenchmen in the second round with fifth seed Ugo Humbert to take on wild card Gael Monfils.
