Matteo Berrettini battled to a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over South African Lloyd Harris to book a place in third round of French Open Tennis Tournament.
Berrettini won four games in a row and bagging the opening set when Harris sent a backhand wide of an open court.
Berrettini fell a break behind again in the second, making too many unforced errors.
The third set was more straightforward as world number 90 Harris ran out of steam.
His double fault in the sixth game of the fourth set gave Berrettini another service break and the Italian went on to clinch victory on his second match point.
Meanwhile, fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas produced a clinical performance to outclass Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas 6-1 6-4 6-2.
Tsitsipas broke Cuevas's serve six times while facing a single break point during his own service games and closed out victory in 88 minutes.
He converted his Matchpoint when Cuevas sent a service return long and will next meet Aljaz Bedene.
Earlier, top seed Novak Djokovic thrashes Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis in straight sets to book a place in third round.
Djokovic is bidding for his second French Open Crown and 18th grand slam title and has dropped 10 games in two rounds.
He finished it off after only 83 minutes with his 10th ace.
It was a carbon copy of the pair's only other grand slam clash when Berankis also managed only five games, at the 2013 U.S. Open.
It was Djokovic's 70th victory at the French Open, moving him into joint second place on the all-time list with Roger Federer.
