Pak,Aus: First T20i Washed Out As Babar Hits 50 In Captaincy Debut
It was a relief for Pakistan and frustration for the Australians as the rain-hit first of three T20 internationals ended in no result in Sydney.
Earlier, Babar Azam marked his T20i captaincy debut with a fifty as Pakistan set Australia 108 in 15 overs. PTV Sports telecast match live.
Rain arrived in the 12th over and as a result Pakistan innings was reduced to 15 overs-a-side who were sent into bat after hosts won the toss.
Captain Babar Azam scored unbeaten 59 in an innings which could not really take off. Fakhar Zaman and Harris Sohail were gone inside first two hours giving hosts an ideal start. Babar and Muhammad Rizwan then resisted adding 60 to the total for the fourth wicket but Rizwan fell to agar on 31. Asif Ali made 11 and Imad nought. Mitchel Starc and Kane Richardson bagged two wickets each.
Rain arrived again when Australia were coasting at 41 for none in 3.1, well ahead of par score 33 needed in power play. But subsequent but a bizarre 20 minute innings break and consistent showers ended this match prematurely.
