Team Is On The Right Track: Misbah

Pakistan cricket team chief selector and coach Misbah ul Haq has said the recent England tour has shown the team needs more consistency and improvement in all departments but added that the team is on the right track.

Speaking to reporters at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Misbah said the goal now is to create a more balanced team and give younger players more opportunities.

He said the strategy is to focus more on the teams longterm development because of which more leverage and patience will have to be given to younger players that will give them more experience and confidence which will lead to a gradual improvement in the team's performance.

Misbah said he wants all players to achieve their full potential, adding he has built trust and good communication with the team and will not take any decision under pressure.

Replying to a question on the team's drop in ODI and T20 rankings Misbah said that when he took charge the team was already performing poorly due to the dip in the form and performance of some key players.

He said they have learned valuable lessons in the England tour and will now perform better.

In the past 12 months, Pakistan has won two tests and lost three, won two out of three ODIs and won three T20is out of 12 with three wash outs. It lost the recent test series in England 0-1 and drew the T20 series 1-1.
