Despite many players losing or mutually dissolving their county contracts in the wake of Covid-19 Pandemic, Pakistan's Babar Azam will be returning to Somerset for this year's T20 blast.

Already in the UK with the Pakistan team for the test and T20i Series, Azam is due to link up with Somerset on September 2 and will be available until October 4.

The club will have the ace batsman's services for the last seven league games as well as the knockouts.

The 25-year-old was the highest run-getter in the 2019 season, amassing 578 runs at an impressive average of 52.54.

Azam said he really enjoyed playing for Somerset last year and this year has been very different from what they were all expecting.

He said they have all had to adapt the changes and he hoped that he can help to contribute to success on the field for Somerset again.
